Linguistics (without a specified focus area)

Because of the flexible nature of this 'focus area', the language of instruction depends on the courses you choose. Depending on which focus area a particular course belongs to, it could be English, German or any of the Romance or Slavic languages. Please ensure that you carefully check the course catalogue for the language of instruction and that you have the necessary language skills.

In the focus area Linguistics (without specified focus area) (Sprachwissenschaft) you have to choose modules according to the following rules:

• all compulsory modules (P-Module) from the module group "Methodology" (Methodologie), which are 30 ECTS credits in total
• at least 30 ECTS credits from at least 3 different module groups
• at least 18 ECTS credits in core elective modules (WP-Module) from at least 3 different module groups (but they do not have to be the same module groups as in the rule above)
• at least 18 additional ECTS credits of free choice from within the program
• Master thesis (30 ECTS credits)
