Stay Abroad
Stay abroad
It is possible to go abroad in this program. We are working on setting up contracts with partner universities but it is entirely possible to go abroad the departments involved in our program.
You can find all necessary information such as deadlines, procedures, free spots, exchange programs, etc. on the website of the Global Student Experience
There is a possibility to go abroad for a SEMP traineeship instead of a regular semester of studies. The advantage is that you are not bound to the semester dates and the traineeship can range between 2-12 months and, in case you have not finished your studies yet, be counted towards your degree. Please find more information on SEMP-Traineeships here.
Of course, you can always self-organize your stay abroad if your preferred university is not listed as one of UZH's partner universities. You can find more information on Self-Organization of an Exchange Stay here.
When to go abroad
If you are studying full-time, we recommend the third semester for this, but you are free to choose which semester suits you best. Keep in mind that the compulsory methodological modules are only offered every fall semester.
Credit Transfer Agreement and Learning Agreement (MobOn)
Guidelines on the Recognition of Academic Achievement (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences)
Important: Before you depart, it is therefore essential that you clarify with your assigned contact person which credits will be counted towards your degree in Zurich and draw up a corresponding Learning Agreement. For all SEMP-exchanges, you will be able to fill out a form directly in the MobOn tool. Additionally, for every planned exchange, please contact us so we can fill out an official Credit Transfer Agreement together to make sure the courses taken at the guest university will be credited to your degree here at UZH.
If there is no Credit Transfer Agreement / Learning Agreement, it is not guaranteed that any of the credits taken at the host university will count towards your degree. It is your responsibility to approach us!
